India-Bound Nursing Student Caught by NDLEA with 76 Cocaine Wraps
On January 16, 2025, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 26-year-old Esther Onyinyechi Uzodinma, a nursing student at Noida International University in India, for attempting to smuggle 76 wraps of cocaine into India.
Esther was apprehended at the Royal Park Hotel in Kano, Nigeria, where she was preparing to ingest the cocaine pellets before her scheduled flight to India.
The drugs had been concealed within an audio speaker, which was intercepted by NDLEA operatives during a routine patrol along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State.
In her confession, Esther revealed that she had been recruited by a drug cartel in India, who funded her trip to Nigeria under the pretext of enjoying the holiday season. She was promised over $5,000 upon successful delivery of the illicit consignment in India.
