Ogun Authorities Detain Man for Possession of Human Skull
On January 21, 2025, operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) apprehended 54-year-old Adelani Oriyomi at a burial ground in Kere, Obada-Oko, Ewekoro Local Government Area. Oriyomi, an ex-convict, was allegedly attempting to exhume a human skull when arrested around 2:35 a.m.
The Commander of So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, disclosed that officers on routine patrol observed suspicious activity on a parcel of land behind a church, leading to Oriyomi’s arrest. During interrogation, Oriyomi confessed to exhuming a skull from a tomb behind his residence on January 18, 2025.
This incident follows a similar case in June 2024, when 45-year-old Lekan Akinyemi was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly exhuming and beheading a corpse for ritual purposes in the Car Wash area of Abeokuta.
