Borno Under Attack: Civilian JTF Leader Killed in Bomb Explosion

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, a bomb explosion in Kawuri, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, claimed the life of Abba Godori, the vice chairman of the Kawuri unit of the Civilian Joint Taskforce (CJTF).

According to reports, Mr. Godori was on patrol when he stepped on an explosive device believed to have been planted by terrorists the previous day. An eyewitness stated, “Mr. Godori was on patrol when he stepped on the bomb. He was following the footsteps of the terrorists until he stepped on the bomb.”

The CJTF, also known as “yan gora,” is a local vigilante group formed to assist the Nigerian military in combating insurgent groups like Boko Haram in northeastern Nigeria. Their efforts have been instrumental in providing security and intelligence within communities affected by terrorism.
