Seized Luxury Wristwatch and Necklace from Nigerian Politician Hit USA Auction Block
U.S. authorities have auctioned luxury items, including a wristwatch and necklace, previously seized from Abidemi Rufai, a Nigerian official convicted of defrauding U.S. agencies.
These items were among assets forfeited as part of his plea agreement, which mandates full restitution of $604,260 to the defrauded agencies.
In a related development, the U.S. has agreed to transfer approximately $52.88 million in forfeited assets to Nigeria.
This amount is linked to former Nigerian oil minister Diezani Alison-Madueke and is intended to support rural electrification projects in Nigeria.
