Kidnapping Crisis: Unilorin Graduates Held Hostage, N5m Per Person Demanded
On January 22, 2025, several graduates from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) were reportedly abducted in Delta State while en route to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Rivers State. The kidnappers have allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦5 million per person.
In a related incident, a UNILORIN graduate named Rhoda Odeyale was abducted by gunmen while traveling to the NYSC camp in Port Harcourt. The abductors have demanded a ransom of ₦2.5 million for her release. Her family has managed to raise ₦1 million so far, leaving a balance of ₦1.5 million.
These incidents highlight the growing security concerns for NYSC members traveling to orientation camps across Nigeria. Families and well-wishers are appealing for public assistance to secure the safe release of the abducted individuals.
