Trump: Not Fully Committed to Running Again
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has recently suggested uncertainty about the constitutional prohibition against serving more than two terms. He stated that he is “not 100 percent sure” he is barred from a third term, despite the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution explicitly limiting presidents to two elected terms.
This is not the first time Trump has alluded to the possibility of serving beyond the traditional two-term limit. He has previously made remarks hinting at a third term, often in a light-hearted or provocative manner.
The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, clearly states that no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice. Despite this, some discussions have emerged about potential loopholes or interpretations that could allow a former president to serve additional terms under certain circumstances.
