APC’s Decision to Expel Aregbesola: Analyzing the Consequences
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled former Minister of Interior and ex-Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, citing allegations of anti-party activities. This decision was conveyed in a letter from the party’s leadership, which accused Aregbesola of actions that undermined the unity and integrity of the APC.
The expulsion follows a recent meeting of the Omoluabi Caucus, presided over by Aregbesola, during which the group announced its decision to exit the APC, expressing concerns over the party’s declining influence in Osun State.
The APC’s letter emphasized that Aregbesola’s actions breached Article 21 of the party’s constitution, which outlines disciplinary measures for members. Consequently, he is no longer recognized as a member of the APC and is advised against representing or acting on behalf of the party in any capacity.
