Lawyer Claims Reformed Kidnapper Evans Fit for Anti-Crime Ambassador
During a recent court session at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, Emefo Etudo, the legal representative for alleged kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, commonly known as Evans, informed the court of his client’s transformation.
Etudo stated that Evans has become “born again” and is prepared to serve as an ambassador against crime. He emphasized that Evans has undergone significant personal development during his time in custody, including acquiring educational qualifications and vocational skills. Etudo proposed that Evans could leverage his experiences to dissuade others from engaging in criminal activities.
This assertion was made in the context of a plea bargain application submitted on Evans’ behalf, wherein he seeks a reduced sentence in exchange for his commitment to crime prevention advocacy. The court has scheduled the next hearing for March 20, 2025, to deliberate on this application.
Evans has previously been convicted in separate kidnapping cases, and this development marks a new chapter in his legal proceedings.
