Phone Thief Receives 7-Year Imprisonment in Ekiti Court Decision
An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court has sentenced 25-year-old Balogun Mujaid to three years of imprisonment with hard labor for stealing a mobile phone. The court found Mujaid guilty of theft, leading to his sentencing.
In a separate case, the Ekiti High Court in Ado Ekiti sentenced 26-year-old Omodara Dada to seven years in prison for burglary and stealing. Dada was convicted of breaking into a hotel manager’s room, threatening him with a knife, and stealing a black Infinix Hot 8 phone valued at ₦64,000 and a cash sum of ₦8,000.
The court found that while the evidence was insufficient to sustain a charge of armed robbery, it was adequate to convict Dada of burglary under Section 323 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State.
