Lagos Devastation: Four Soldiers Dead, Others Injured by Alleged Drunk Driver
In a tragic incident on the morning of January 31, 2025, a suspected drunk driver rammed into a group of soldiers during their routine morning jog near the Myoung Barracks in the Morocco area of Shomolu, Lagos. Reports indicate that four soldiers are feared dead, with several others sustaining injuries.
Eyewitnesses recounted that a speeding Toyota vehicle, occupied by three young men, veered off course and ploughed into the troops. Following the collision, the occupants attempted to flee but were apprehended by an angry mob. One of the suspects was reportedly stabbed during the ensuing chaos, and their vehicle was vandalized.
As of now, official statements from military and police authorities are pending. Efforts to reach the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Olabisi Ayeni, and the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, have been unsuccessful.
