Armored Intruders in Lagos: NSCDC Uniform Clad Men Torture and Loot in Bold Hotel Heist
On January 31, 2025, a group of approximately 15 masked armed men, some dressed in uniforms resembling those of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), invaded Seafortunes Hotels Limited on Godwin Obasi Street, Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos.
The assailants, accompanied by individuals in plain clothes posing as police officers, forcibly entered the hotel around 4:00 AM, firing shots into the air to intimidate guests and staff. They proceeded to break into rooms, assaulting occupants and confiscating valuables. The attackers also dismantled and stole the hotel’s generator, utilizing a crane to load it onto a truck.
The hotel’s Chief Executive Officer, Nwukwa Okechukwu, was alerted to the invasion by a customer. Upon reviewing the hotel’s CCTV footage, Okechukwu identified some of the assailants wearing NSCDC uniforms, while others were in plain clothes. He noted that the incident might be connected to a previous business dispute involving a former manager and a creditor named Nicholas.
In response to the incident, the NSCDC has officially denied any involvement, stating that the perpetrators were not their personnel. The Corps emphasized that the individuals who carried out the invasion were impostors and not affiliated with the NSCDC.
