Investigation Continues into Washington DC Plane Crash: Family of Four Perishes
On January 29, 2025, a tragic mid-air collision occurred near Washington, D.C., involving an American Airlines regional jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter. All 67 individuals on board the two aircraft perished in the accident.
Among the victims were Peter Livingston, his wife Donna, and their daughters Everly and Alydia. Peter was known for his dedication to his family, having built a backyard ice rink to support his daughters’ passion for figure skating. Both girls were active members of the Washington Figure Skating Club.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has recovered the flight data and cockpit voice recorders from the Black Hawk helicopter and is currently analyzing them to determine the cause of the collision.
This incident has deeply affected the figure skating community, as several athletes, coaches, and family members were among the victims. The International Skating Union plans to honor those lost during the upcoming World Championships in Boston this March.
