Tinubu’s Call to Action: Combatting Insecurity by 2025
President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive to the Nigerian military to eradicate banditry and general insecurity across the nation by the end of 2025. This mandate was conveyed by the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, who emphasized the government’s commitment to restoring peace and security.
Minister Badaru highlighted that the military is intensifying its operations against bandits and other criminal elements, noting that many bandits are currently fleeing due to increased military pressure. He stated, “The bandits are now on the run, but the military will not rest until we end this thing. The president has given us marching orders to end insecurity in every part of our country by the end of this year.”
The Chief of Defence Staff and the National Security Adviser are reportedly working tirelessly to achieve this objective, implementing strategies to address security challenges in various regions. Additionally, the government has lifted the suspension on mining activities in Zamfara State, a move linked to ongoing security assessments and operations.
