One-Chance Syndicate Arrested in Rivers Region
The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended members of a notorious “one-chance” syndicate responsible for defrauding and robbing unsuspecting passengers in the state. The group, known for posing as commercial transport operators, lures victims into their vehicles and robs them of their belongings while in transit.
According to a statement from the police, the suspects were arrested during an undercover operation following multiple complaints from residents in Port Harcourt and surrounding areas. The operation led to the recovery of stolen items, including mobile phones, cash, and other valuables.
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) confirmed the arrests, adding that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation. Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate had been active for months, targeting individuals commuting to work or markets.
The police have advised the public to remain vigilant and only board vehicles at designated bus stops or stations. They also encouraged victims of such crimes to come forward to aid in the prosecution of the suspects.
