Border Crisis: 15 Arrested in Canada Entry Attempt
In recent weeks, Canadian authorities have reported three separate incidents involving individuals attempting to cross into Canada from the United States, resulting in one death and 15 arrests.
Incident Details:
- January 14, 2025: Six individuals were apprehended after crossing into Manitoba. They were unprepared for the extreme cold, facing temperatures between -20°C and -30°C (-4°F to -22°F), lacking appropriate winter clothing.
- February 4, 2025: Four adults and five youths were detained near the Coutts port of entry, which connects Montana and Alberta. U.S. Border Patrol agents alerted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), leading to the arrests.
- February 5, 2025: A U.S. citizen attempted to drive into Canada at the Coutts port of entry. When stopped for inspection, the individual fled, leading to a police pursuit. The suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the chase.
