Justice Azuka’s Body Found: Anambra Lawmaker Kidnapping Case
Tragically, the decomposing body of Justice Azuka, the member representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, was discovered near the Second Niger Bridge. Azuka was reportedly kidnapped on December 24, 2024, along Ugwunabankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha, while returning home for Christmas.
A joint security team comprising police and Anambra Vigilante Group operatives found his lifeless body during a routine patrol. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for this heinous act.
This incident marks the second time in recent years that a sitting Anambra lawmaker has been kidnapped and murdered. In 2022, Okey Okoye, representing Aguata 1 Constituency, was abducted and beheaded, with his body later found around the Nnobi area.
The Anambra State Police Command has intensified efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and urges the public to provide any information that could assist in their investigation.
Justice Azuka, a member of the Labour Party, had reclaimed his mandate following a court ruling that nullified the victory of a Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the 2023 election.
