
Benue Police Detain Nephew in Uncle’s Kidnapping Case
The Benue State Police Command has arrested Teryima Yaji for allegedly orchestrating the kidnapping of his uncle, Emmanuel Yaji, a community leader in the Mbaduku Clan of Vandeikya Local Government Area. The incident occurred on December 30, 2024, when Emmanuel was abducted by gunmen at a relaxation spot. Following a swift police operation, he was rescued within 24 hours.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Teryima, who confessed to planning the abduction to extort money from his relative. Additionally, a native doctor named Terna Sule was apprehended for allegedly preparing charms to fortify the kidnappers for the operation.
The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Steve Yabanet, has ordered a detailed investigation into the case. The suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.
