Brazilian footballer Marcelo Vieira da Silva Júnior, widely known as Marcelo, has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36. In a heartfelt video shared on his social media platforms, Marcelo reflected on his journey, expressing gratitude to his grandfather for inspiring his passion for the sport and highlighting his deep connection to Madrid, where he spent a significant portion of his career.
Marcelo’s illustrious career is marked by numerous achievements:
- Real Madrid (2007–2022): Over 16 seasons, he made 546 appearances and secured 25 titles, including:

- 6 La Liga championships
- 2 Copa del Rey trophies
- 5 Spanish Super Cups
