Loan Scheme Controversy: Access Bank Officials Targeted
A Lagos State High Court has issued arrest warrants for Access Bank’s acting Managing Director, Bolaji Agbede, along with Balmoral International Limited, DDSS International Company Limited, and Adejare Adegbenro, following their failure to appear for arraignment on charges related to an alleged fraudulent loan scheme.
The case centers on a property owned by MOB Integrated Services, managed by Gbolahan Obanikoro, son of former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro. In 2013, this property was used as collateral for a loan granted to Balmoral International Limited by Diamond Bank, which later merged with Access Bank. Despite the loan being repaid, the same property was allegedly used without the owner’s consent in 2019 to secure a ₦1 billion loan to DDSS International Company Limited.
The defendants are accused of conspiracy, stealing, and attempted theft, specifically for using the property as loan security without the owner’s consent and subsequently entering into a consent judgment. Justice Ibironke Harrison issued the arrest warrants after the defendants failed to attend court proceedings. The next hearing is scheduled for February 24, 2025.
