
Niger State Gas Explosion Destroys Vehicles and Food Supplies
On the night of Saturday, February 8, 2025, a significant gas explosion occurred at the Tasiu Gas Plant in Sabon Wuse, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State. The incident resulted in extensive property damage, including the destruction of several vehicles, shops, and food items. A processing factory containing 550 bags of beans and other grains was also consumed by the fire.
The explosion took place around 11 p.m. while a gas tanker was offloading at the facility. The ensuing fire spread rapidly, reaching a nearby petrol station and engulfing multiple shops and parked vehicles. Despite the extensive property damage, no casualties have been reported.
This incident marks the fourth explosion in Niger State within a month, raising concerns about safety protocols in handling flammable materials. Authorities are conducting investigations to determine the cause of the explosion and to implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
