FPRO Announces End of SARS Operations

The Nigeria Police Force has officially dismissed rumors suggesting the reinstatement of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

In a statement released on February 10, 2025, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Muyiwa Adejobi clarified that SARS, which was dissolved on October 11, 2020, remains disbanded. He emphasized that any information regarding SARS’s reformation or new rules of engagement should be treated with caution. Adejobi urged Nigerians to verify the source of such information and to rely on the official social media handles of the Nigeria Police Force for accurate updates.

This clarification comes amid circulating rumors and misinformation speculating about the return of SARS under a reformed framework. The police have reiterated that SARS is not back in operation and that the unit remains permanently dissolved.
