
Important Notice: Lagos Roads Closed for Marathon
The Lagos State Government has announced an eight-hour road closure and traffic diversion on Saturday, February 15, 2025, to facilitate the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon. The marathon will commence at 5:00 a.m. and conclude by 1:00 p.m.
Marathon Route and Affected Roads:
- Starting Point: National Stadium, Surulere
- Route: Ikorodu Road towards Anthony (Bertola) → Gbagada → Third Mainland Bridge (inbound Lagos Island) → Dolphin Road → Alfred Rewane Road → Falomo Roundabout → Bourdillon Road → Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge → Admiralty Way → Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue → Akin Adesola Street
- Finish Line: Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island
All adjoining roads, junctions, and intersections along this route will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic during the event. Concrete barriers, manned by officials from LASTMA, NPF, FRSC, LSNC, and LAWMA, will be in place to prevent unauthorized access to the race corridor.
Alternative Routes:
- Mainland to Island: Motorists can use alternative routes such as the Eko Bridge and Carter Bridge to access Lagos Island during the marathon.
- Island to Mainland: For those traveling from the Island to the Mainland, the same bridges are recommended as alternative routes.
Public Advisory:
Residents and motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and consider these alternative routes to minimize inconvenience. The Lagos State Government has assured the deployment of traffic management officials to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and reduce disruptions during the marathon.
