
Zaria Tomato Traders Victimized in Katsina Bridge Tragedy
In a tragic incident in Katsina State, Nigeria, ten tomato traders from Danmagaji Market in Zaria lost their lives following an attack by armed bandits. The traders were returning from purchasing tomatoes in Katsina and Zamfara states when they were ambushed at Takoki village in Funtua Local Government Area.
In an attempt to escape, the driver of their truck reversed at high speed, causing the vehicle to fall off a bridge. This accident resulted in the deaths of ten traders, injuries to seven others, and the suspected kidnapping of five individuals. Goods worth approximately ₦60 million were also reportedly destroyed.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has expressed deep sorrow over the incident, condemning the attack and urging security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the kidnapped individuals and apprehend the perpetrators. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of their souls.
