Gombe Police Detain Two Suspected Burglars
The Gombe State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Ibrahim Umar and Usman Abdullahi, on charges of criminal conspiracy, housebreaking, and theft. The arrests were made following a complaint lodged by Abdulbasid Haruna, who reported that on February 3, 2025, around 1:00 am, unknown individuals broke into his residence and stole items including laptops, mobile phones, and other valuables, with a total estimated value of ₦3,200,570.
Utilizing advanced tracking technology, the police traced some of the stolen devices, leading to the arrest of the suspects on February 7, 2025. During interrogation, both Umar and Abdullahi confessed to the crime, revealing that they had sold the stolen items for ₦80,000.
All stolen items have since been recovered. Authorities are currently pursuing a third suspect, identified as Ibrahim Danmariya, believed to be the receiver of the stolen goods. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
In a related development, the Gombe State Police Command recently recovered 85 stolen animals, comprising 28 sheep and 57 goats, from suspected thieves intercepted by local hunters along the Tulmi village cattle route. Two suspects, Abdulkadir Tukur and Ibrahim Saidu, were arrested in connection with this theft. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend additional suspects involved in these criminal activities.
