Court Ruling: 15 Strokes for Driver’s Assault in Kaduna
A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna has sentenced 36-year-old driver Mustapha Aminu to 15 strokes of the cane for assaulting a police officer on duty. Aminu, residing in Ungwan Sanusi, Kaduna, pleaded guilty to striking Sergeant Adamu Maigari on the head with a log of wood.
The incident occurred on January 29, 2025, when Aminu, driving recklessly, was stopped by Sgt. Maigari and responded by assaulting him. The court’s decision aims to underscore the severity of the offense and serve as a deterrent to others.
