Tragic Discovery: Kwara Student Found Dismembered

In a tragic incident in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education, identified as Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, was found dismembered in the residence of an Islamic cleric she had connected with on Facebook. The cleric, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo, was arrested in connection with her death.

According to reports, Yetunde was last seen on February 10, 2025, after attending a naming ceremony. She received a phone call during the event and subsequently left, after which her whereabouts were unknown. Her family reported her missing on February 11 at the Oja-Oba Police Station. Police investigations traced her last known contact to Ballo’s residence in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin.

Upon his arrest, Ballo initially denied any involvement but later confessed that Yetunde had visited him and claimed she died of an asthma attack. A search of his residence led to the discovery of Yetunde’s dismembered body concealed in a container, along with tools believed to have been used in the act.

The Kwara State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident and stated that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

This incident has sparked outrage and concern over the safety of online interactions, as Yetunde reportedly met the cleric through Facebook. Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution when engaging with individuals online and to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies promptly.
