Halima Abubakar Seeks Financial Aid Amidst Colleague Abandonment

Actress Halima Abubakar Appeals for Support from Peers

Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has made a heartfelt plea for financial assistance, revealing her ongoing health and financial struggles. In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, she expressed feelings of abandonment by her colleagues and friends within the industry.

Halima disclosed that she has been battling health issues for over six years, which have prevented her from participating in movie projects. She lamented the lack of support, stating, “It’s over six years since I have appeared in a movie. What else do you guys want? Do you want me to die or kill myself?”

Her situation has been further complicated by previous controversies. In 2024, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) suspended her for allegedly defaming colleagues and high-profile individuals. This suspension has reportedly contributed to her isolation and the reluctance of industry peers to offer assistance.

Halima’s plea has sparked discussions about the financial instability many actors in Nollywood face, despite the industry’s significant revenue generation. The absence of structured remuneration and financial safety nets leaves many actors vulnerable during times of personal crisis.

In her appeal, Halima urged the public and relevant authorities to come to her aid, sharing her account details and calling for support to cover her medical expenses. Her emotional plea has resonated with many, shedding light on the challenges faced by actors behind the scenes.
