Court Rules Against Turaki in DNA Test Dispute
On February 18, 2025, the Federal High Court in Abuja declined to grant an ex-parte order sought by former Special Duties Minister, Kabiru Turaki, aiming to prevent the police from presenting a DNA test result in an ongoing paternity dispute.
Justice Inyang Ekwo ruled that such an order could not be issued without first hearing from the respondents involved in the case. The dispute centers around a claim by Hadiza Baffa, who alleges that Turaki is the father of her child—a claim he denies.
Turaki’s legal team sought to restrain the police from tendering the DNA evidence in any court proceedings related to this matter. Justice Ekwo emphasized the necessity of a fair hearing and directed that all parties be duly notified before any further legal action is taken.
