
17-Year-Old Powerlifter Dies in Weightlifting Mishap
In a tragic incident on February 18, 2025, 17-year-old powerlifting champion Yashtika Acharya lost her life during a training session in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
While attempting to lift a 270 kg (595 lbs) barbell, she lost balance, causing the weight to fall onto her neck and resulting in a fatal injury. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
