Reflections on Leadership: A Chair Story
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has revealed that upon assuming office, he had to personally purchase a new office chair because his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki, took the existing one, which bore the Nigerian Coat of Arms.
Governor Okpebholo expressed surprise at this action, stating, “Even when I entered government, I had to use my money to buy my seat. Obaseki took his seat—the chair with the Nigerian Coat of Arms. Somebody who can take an office chair, tell me what he will not take.”
This disclosure has sparked discussions about the transition process between administrations and the protocols regarding state property. Governor Okpebholo’s remarks suggest concerns about the handling of government assets during the changeover of leadership.
