Sheikh Gumi on Leadership: A Call for Selflessness
Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a prominent Islamic cleric, has criticized current Nigerian leaders for prioritizing personal and familial interests over national welfare. Speaking at an event honoring Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin (Rtd) and Brigadier General Abdulkadir Gumi (Rtd), Sheikh Gumi emphasized the need for leaders who are well-trained, well-mannered, and genuinely committed to serving the public.
He lamented that many leaders in the region focus solely on themselves and their families, neglecting the broader needs of the populace.
Sheikh Gumi also highlighted the adverse effects of insecurity on states like Zamfara, noting that such challenges have led to poor education and instability in various communities. He called for the promotion of individuals with good character and leadership qualities into positions of authority to drive national development and ensure fairness for all citizens.
