New Arrest in Ongoing Investigation of Village Head Murder
The Niger State Police Command has apprehended another suspect, Dauda Umar Sarki, in connection with the murder of Mohammed Abdulsafur, the village head of Lambata in Gurara Local Government Area.
The arrest was made following an order from Justice A’isha Wodu Bawa of High Court 3 in Suleja. Sarki will be held in a correctional facility alongside other suspects implicated in the case. The court has scheduled a definitive hearing for March 6–7 and April 27–29, 2025, and has urged legal representatives to avoid unnecessary delays in the proceedings.
This development comes two years after the tragic event on January 14, 2023, when a group of irate youths attacked Abdulsafur’s residence, leading to his death. Fourteen suspects were initially arrested, with twelve currently standing trial for murder.
