Cosmas Maduka on Peter Obi's Approach to Leadership

Peter Obi’s Leadership: Insights from Cosmas Maduka

In a recent interview on the “Mic On Podcast” with Seun Okinbaloye, Cosmas Maduka, the founder of Coscharis Group, expressed his belief that Peter Obi, had he won the presidential election, would have implemented policies similar to those of the current administration.

Maduka emphasized that critical economic measures, such as the removal of fuel subsidies, were inevitable steps that any responsible government would need to take. He stated, “People have asked me, will Peter Obi have done anything different if he won the election? I said no. He would have removed subsidy from day one also.”

Addressing concerns about the nation’s economic challenges, including the depreciation of the naira and prevailing hardships, Maduka acknowledged the difficulties but maintained that the government’s priority should be to reinvest savings from subsidy removal into infrastructure development.

He stressed the importance of fiscal discipline, noting that borrowing is not inherently problematic if directed towards capital and infrastructural projects that can stimulate economic growth. Maduka concluded that Nigeria is on the right path, provided that the government remains disciplined in its financial management and investment strategies.
