Kano APC Chairman Disputes Minister’s Party Affiliation
Kano State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, has expressed surprise over President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Yusuf Abdullahi Ata as a minister, stating that Ata is not a member of the party. Abbas remarked, “We don’t know why he was appointed.”
This development has intensified internal tensions within the Kano APC. Ata, who previously served as the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, had threatened to leave the party if Abbas secured a fourth term as chairman. In response, Abbas dismissed Ata’s threat, emphasizing that Ata is not a core APC member.
Ata’s ministerial appointment came during a cabinet reshuffle in October 2024, where he succeeded Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo as the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development
