Ribadu Addresses Presidential Aspirations for 2031

El-Rufai Claims Ribadu Orchestrated His Downfall

In a recent interview with Arise TV, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai accused National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu of orchestrating a campaign to tarnish his reputation. El-Rufai alleged that Ribadu, in collaboration with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), is attempting to sideline him due to Ribadu’s purported ambition to run for the presidency in 2031. He stated, “This project to destroy Nasir El-Rufai is Nuhu Ribadu’s conception. He is the architect and executor of this plan, working with Uba Sani to implement it.”

In response, Ribadu refuted these claims, asserting that he has not discussed any 2031 presidential ambitions with anyone. He emphasized his current focus on national security and urged the public to disregard El-Rufai’s statements. Ribadu remarked, “I am too preoccupied with my current assignment to get into a media fight with Nasir El-Rufai or anyone else.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has also criticized El-Rufai for his remarks, particularly his disapproval of Ribadu’s appointment as NSA. The party described El-Rufai’s comments as unprovoked attacks on both President Bola Tinubu and Ribadu.
