Ogun State Sees 378 Illegal Immigrants Arrested by NIS
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has apprehended 376 illegal immigrants in Ogun State, allegedly involved in various fraudulent activities targeting Nigerians. The arrests were made during coordinated raids by officers from the Ogun State Command and Zone A headquarters in the Lambe, Ajuwon, and Akute areas, following credible intelligence reports.
Comptroller Muhammed Akadri of the Ogun State Command provided a breakdown of the arrested individuals: 334 Cameroonians, 27 Ghanaians, 26 Beninese, and one Togolese. The group comprises 251 males and 125 females, all aged between 25 and 30 years. Investigations revealed that these individuals entered Nigeria through unauthorized routes and lacked valid residence permits or travel documents.
In response to these findings, Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has directed that the necessary procedures be undertaken to repatriate the detainees to their respective countries of origin.
This operation underscores the NIS’s commitment to curbing illegal immigration and associated criminal activities within Nigeria.
