Keyamo: No Summer Flights for Non-Supportive Airlines
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced that foreign airlines must partner with local Nigerian caterers for in-flight meals to receive approval for their summer flight schedules.
This directive reinforces an earlier mandate from October 2024, which required foreign carriers to utilize local catering services starting January 1, 2025.
Keyamo emphasized that airlines failing to comply with this requirement risk having their summer schedules disapproved. He stated, “I will not approve the summer schedule for foreign airlines until they show me an agreement showing they have partnered with our local caterers.”
The minister further asserted that airlines unwilling to adhere to this directive are free to cease operations into Nigeria, suggesting that domestic carriers, such as Air Peace, could assume those routes.
