Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspect in Nasarawa
The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended an individual impersonating a soldier and engaging in armed robbery activities. The suspect, identified as Godswill Achili, was arrested by officers from the Angwan Lambu Police Division in Keffi during a targeted intelligence operation.
At the time of his arrest, Achili was dressed in military camouflage. Upon interrogation, he confessed to impersonating a soldier and participating in armed robbery. Further investigations revealed that he is part of a criminal syndicate operating in both Nasarawa State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The syndicate reportedly uses a black, unregistered Toyota Avalon and targets unsuspecting members of the public—particularly youths and students traveling between Keffi, New Karu, and the FCT. They lure victims into their vehicle under false pretenses before robbing them of valuables such as money and mobile phones.
Two other members of the gang are currently at large, and efforts are underway to apprehend them. The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities to help curb criminal activities in the state.
