
Los Angeles Shaken by 3.9 Earthquake After Oscars 2025
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, at approximately 10:13 p.m. local time, a magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck the North Hollywood area of Los Angeles. The tremor occurred shortly after the conclusion of the 97th Academy Awards ceremony, with many afterparties underway.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located about 1.4 miles east-southeast of North Hollywood, at a depth of 15 kilometers. The shaking was felt across various parts of Los Angeles, including the San Fernando Valley, Pasadena, Long Beach, Torrance, Redondo Beach, and Glendale.
Despite the widespread sensation, there were no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries. The Los Angeles Fire Department assessed the situation and opted not to enter earthquake mode.
Notably, the tremors were captured on a livestream during the Vanity Fair afterparty at the Wallis Annenberg Center, located approximately four miles from the Dolby Theatre, where the Oscars were held. Celebrities such as Adrien Brody, Zoe Saldana, Heidi Klum, Cara Delevingne, and Olivia Rodrigo were in attendance during the incident.
