Man Charged with Murder of Police Officer in Niger
A man identified as Alhaji Sabo Manigi has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly stabbing Police Inspector Musa Nasiru to death over a woman. The incident occurred in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State on February 4, 2025.
According to reports, the altercation arose because Inspector Nasiru married a woman whom Alhaji Sabo’s son was reportedly dating. Upon learning of the marriage, Alhaji Sabo confronted Inspector Nasiru, accusing him of causing his son’s distress. During the confrontation, Alhaji Sabo allegedly stabbed Inspector Nasiru, who was later pronounced dead at the Federal Medical Centre Bida.
Following the incident, Alhaji Sabo fled but was apprehended in Ilorin, Kwara State, on March 3, 2025. He has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
