U.K. Charity Commission Investigates Naomi Campbell
Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been banned from serving as a charity trustee for five years after a U.K. Charity Commission investigation revealed serious mismanagement within her charity, Fashion for Relief.
The inquiry, which spanned several years, found that a significant portion of the charity’s funds—intended for charitable causes—was instead used for personal luxuries, including stays at five-star hotels, spa treatments, and other expenses. Only a small percentage (8.5%) of the charity’s funds were directed towards actual charitable grants.
The investigation also uncovered unauthorized payments made to one of the trustees, Bianka Hellmich, totaling around $389,000 for consultancy services. This mismanagement led to the charity being removed from the U.K.’s charity register earlier this year.
Campbell, along with two other trustees, was disqualified from holding any trustee or senior charity roles in England and Wales for several years. Campbell has expressed concern over the findings and claimed she was not in control of the charity’s day-to-day operations
