Governor Fubara Engages Pro-Wike Lawmakers After Ruling

Pro-Wike Lawmakers Invited by Fubara Following Court Verdict

In a move to address the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has extended an invitation to the 27 pro-Wike lawmakers, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, for a meeting scheduled on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

This development follows the recent Supreme Court judgment that recognized the Amaewhule-led faction as the legitimate assembly. In response, Governor Fubara acknowledged the court’s decision and expressed his intention to collaborate with the assembly members to resolve pressing issues.

The meeting’s agenda includes discussions on:

  • Provision of a suitable venue for the assembly’s sittings.
  • Settlement of outstanding remunerations and allowances for the lawmakers.
  • Presentation and deliberation of the 2025 budget.

This initiative signifies a potential reconciliation between the executive and legislative branches in Rivers State, aiming to foster unity and progress for the benefit of its citizens
