NACA DG Confirms Ongoing Free HIV Care Services

NACA DG: HIV Treatment Remains Cost-Free in Facilities

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has reaffirmed that HIV treatment remains free of charge at government-approved health facilities in Nigeria. This clarification comes in response to circulating misinformation suggesting that antiretroviral (ARV) drugs would now cost ₦250,000 per dose, amounting to ₦500,000 monthly. NACA’s Director-General, Temitope Ilori, emphasized that such claims are entirely false and misleading.

Ms. Ilori expressed gratitude towards donor agencies, including the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the Global Fund, and other development partners, for their ongoing support in ensuring uninterrupted access to free HIV treatment.

The public is advised to disregard the misinformation and avoid unnecessary panic. For accurate and up-to-date information on HIV treatment and prevention in Nigeria, individuals are encouraged to visit NACA’s official website or follow its verified social media platforms.

NACA remains committed to ensuring that no person living with HIV is denied access to life-saving treatment due to misinformation or fear. The agency continues to work diligently to sustain the progress made in controlling HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.
