Rivers Assembly: Gov Fubara’s 2025 Budget Presentation Date
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has formally addressed the State House of Assembly, proposing to present the 2025 budget on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., or at a time convenient for the House.
This proposal follows a previous attempt on March 12, 2025, when Governor Fubara was denied entry to the Assembly premises, hindering the budget presentation. The Governor noted that despite prior delivery of a soft copy notice and efforts to submit a hard copy through the clerk, he and his entourage were locked out.
In his recent letter, dated March 13, 2025, and addressed to Speaker Martins Amaewhule, Governor Fubara expressed his commitment to complying with the Supreme Court’s directive and emphasized the importance of prioritizing the state’s interests over political conflicts.
The Governor also appealed to all parties to embrace peace, stating that adherence to the Supreme Court’s judgment is essential for the state’s progress. He reiterated his openness to dialogue and collaboration to ensure effective governance and development in Rivers State.
The Assembly’s response to this proposed date is awaited, as both the executive and legislative branches work towards resolving the impasse and facilitating the timely passage of the 2025 budget.
