El-Rufai Exposes Allegations of Paid Minister Appointments

Ministers’ Appointments: El-Rufai’s Controversial Claims

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has alleged that certain individuals secured ministerial appointments in President Bola Tinubu’s administration through monetary payments. In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, El-Rufai stated, “I know those who even paid money to be appointed as ministers.”

El-Rufai expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting that the party has deviated from its foundational principles. He remarked, “APC is dead,” highlighting his concerns about the party’s direction.

Addressing speculations that his departure from the APC was due to not securing a ministerial position, El-Rufai refuted such claims, emphasizing that his decision was based on the party’s ideological shift. He mentioned that he sought the consent of former President Muhammadu Buhari before leaving the party to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
