Tragic Beheading of 14-Year-Old Almajiri by Ritualists
The Jigawa State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the tragic death of a 14-year-old almajiri, Bashir Adamu, in Gwaram Local Government Area. On March 12, 2025, Bashir’s headless and mutilated body was discovered along the Jikas-Dabaja village road, two days after he was reported missing. The police suspect ritualistic motives behind this heinous act and are actively working to apprehend those responsible.
This incident is part of a concerning pattern of attacks on vulnerable individuals in the region. In April 2023, a 16-year-old almajiri named Yusufa Mustapha was found dead in Kiyawa Local Government Area, with one of his eyes removed. He had gone into the bush to gather firewood and was later discovered with his eye gouged out. The police launched an investigation into this case as well.
The Jigawa State Police Command has assured the public that they are committed to uncovering the motives behind these killings and bringing the perpetrators to justice. They have urged community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.
