
Delta Rivers: Two Boys Lose Their Lives in Drowning
Tragedy struck in Delta State as two boys, aged 16 and 12, drowned in separate rivers in the Isoko North and Isoko South Local Government Areas.
The first incident occurred on Wednesday evening in Owhelogbo community, Isoko North LGA. The 16-year-old victim, identified as Sylvester, had gone swimming with friends after running an errand for his mother.
Eyewitnesses reported that Sylvester was suddenly pulled under the water. Despite his friends’ immediate efforts to save him and subsequent rescue attempts by the community, his lifeless body resurfaced around 9 p.m. Friends expressed shock over the incident, noting that Sylvester was a proficient swimmer and had swum in that river multiple times without issues.
The second drowning occurred on Saturday in Ugbolokposo community, Isoko South LGA, involving a 12-year-old boy. Details surrounding this incident remain unclear at this time.
