Akwa Ibom Makeup Artist Murder: Boyfriend Arrested by Police
Akwa Ibom State Police have arrested 32-year-old Ndifreke Isaiah Nelson for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Emem Monday Effanga, a 39-year-old makeup artist. The incident occurred on February 6, 2025, at Emem’s residence in Uyo.
Following a struggle over her refusal to let him use her phone for birthday photos, Ndifreke allegedly strangled Emem and struck her head on the floor, leading to her unconsciousness and subsequent death. He then fled with her phone. The device was later recovered from him during his arrest.
The police investigation revealed visible signs of violence on Emem’s face and neck, indicating strangulation and physical assault. A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death. The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, has assured that justice will be served and emphasized the commitment to addressing domestic violence and criminal acts in the state.
