Dele Momodu Critiques Tinubu's Handling of Wike in Abuja

Dele Momodu on Tinubu’s Treatment of Elected Officials

Dele Momodu, a prominent Nigerian journalist and publisher, has openly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. Momodu contends that instead of addressing the actions of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who has been accused of interfering in Rivers State affairs, President Tinubu chose to dissolve the state’s elected government. He expressed this sentiment in a social media post, stating:

“Instead of a simple call to Wike by the President asking him to face his assignment in Abuja and leave Rivers State alone, Tinubu prefers to over pamper a troublemaker by throwing away an elected government through the backdoor.”

In addition to his social media commentary, Momodu penned an open letter to President Tinubu, expressing concern over the political developments in Rivers State. He warned that such actions could lead to unintended consequences, drawing parallels to historical events where leaders faced challenges due to the actions of their close associates. Momodu emphasized the importance of adhering to democratic principles and cautioned against decisions that might undermine the nation’s democratic fabric.
