16-Year-Old Girl Found After Year of Running Away

Runaway Girl, 16, Located After Year of Disappearance

A 16-year-old girl from Georgia, Asata Amun, who disappeared over a year ago following an argument with her father, has been found safe in Tennessee. Asata left her Buford home on February 1, 2024, after her father threatened to send her to military school due to disciplinary issues.

She departed without any belongings and was captured on a doorbell camera fleeing the residence barefoot.

During her time away, Asata used an alias and had been under the care of Tennessee’s Department of Children’s Services since February 2024.

Her true identity was discovered when inconsistencies in her statements led a case manager to cross-reference her information with missing children records in Georgia.

Asata’s mother, Jasmine Dominique, who resides in Connecticut, had recently made a public plea for her daughter’s return.

She expressed immense relief upon learning of Asata’s safety. Arrangements are being made to transfer Asata to the Georgia Department of Family & Children Services, with hopes of reuniting her with her family soon.
